David Joseph MAY, 87, widower of Evelyn (Fugate) May, passed away March 20, 2024, at the VA Medical Center on Cooper Drive. Born March 7, 1937, in Lexington, KY, David was the son of the late Joseph Nicholas May and Tillie B. Sampson May. David was a very loving and supportive father and grandfather. He was a wonderful outdoorsman and a longtime member of the Bluegrass Sportsman's Club of Wilmore, KY and the American Legion, Man O' War Post 8. He served as a jet mechanic in the U.S. Marine Corp. Later he worked as a manager of Bryant's Distillery and more recently had long-lasting friendships with the staff at Barrel House Distilling Co., 1200 Manchester Street, Lexington, KY. He was married to Evelyn for more than 50 years. He is survived by three children, Evelyn Juanita May Hunt, Diana J. May Taylor (Pat), both of Lexington, KY, David Joseph May II (Stephanie) of Jessamine Co.; four grandchildren, Melvyn Nicholas Estepp (Sara), Sabrina Lee Hunt Fritzpatrick (Logan), Patricia Diana Taylor, Sam May; five great grandchildren, Gema McCauley, Ronan McCauley, Chole E. Winburn, Vlad N. Estepp, Kain N. Estepp; and a brother, Freddy May. Funeral services will be 12:30 PM Monday, March 25, 2024, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY 40513. A burial, with full military honors, will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, 4915 Harrodsburg Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356. Visitation will be prior to the time of service on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Kerr Brothers – Harrodsburg Rd.
