David Lamar Mayfield
May 22, 1963 – March 26, 2025
David Lamar Mayfield, age 61, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025. Born on May 22, 1963 in Fort Worth, David was raised in Del Rio, Texas until he graduated from high school in 1981. He, then, became involved in the transportation industry in San Antonio, Denver, and the DFW area for over 40 years where his work ethic was admired by his colleagues.
A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, David’s presence brought joy and warmth to all who knew him.
Outside of work, he loved NASCAR, working outdoors, and his family. Whether watching racing, spending time in his yard, or simply being with his family, David lived life with enthusiasm and a kind heart.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tonya; his two sons, Zach and Ian; his sister, Kathy, and brother-in-law, Duane, as well as numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.V. (Red) and Wanda Mayfield.
David will be remembered for his sense of humor and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst on Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice in his memory.
