James Kirkland “Kirk” Moffitt, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2025, in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Kirk was born on March 4, 1967, in Amarillo, Texas, to Sharon L. Wallace and Jerry Keith Moffitt. He and his two brothers grew up across north Texas, ultimately settling in Irving, Tx where he graduated from Irving High School in 1985.
On June 7, 2008, he married Megan Powell in Granbury, Texas. They made their home in North Richland Hills and were blessed with two amazing children, Ethan and Elizabeth. They were the greatest joys of his life, he was immensely proud of them, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Throughout his 58 years, Kirk held many professions. He was a boxer, auto mechanic, butcher, journalist, and teacher. His favorite profession was music. Kirk was a talented bassist and guitarist. He was a valued contributor to everything he touched in the music world, and he was part of some really cool projects. Kirk took immense pride in his music career and found joy in sharing that love with others, especially his children.
Kirk was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Keith Moffitt, and his brother, Jeffrey Kyle Moffitt. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Megan; his son, Ethan, and daughter, Elizabeth; his mother, Sharon Beuke, and stepfather, Vernon Beuke; his brother, Jerry Keith Moffitt; his niece, June Moffitt and nephews, Jeffery Moffitt and Jack Cannell; as well as many friends and extended family.
Kirk will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Pursue what you love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in remembrance of Kirk be made to your local animal shelter, either through monetary contributions or by volunteering your time.
