David Kerby McCallum, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2026, at the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Hospital. Born on November 14, 1958, in Bay City, Michigan, David was a vibrant soul whose laughter lit up every room he entered.
For many years, David dedicated himself to his career as a project manager, David was renowned for his great sense of humor—he possessed a sharp wit and always had a clever, smart response up his sleeve, effortlessly transforming ordinary moments into unforgettable memories filled with laughter.
Among David's greatest joys were the times spent indulging in his hobbies and interests. He cherished hunting trips and relished the quiet nature of his cabin up north, finding solace in the embrace of the wilderness. His love for golfing was matched only by the warm glow of bonfires shared with family and friends, where stories were spun and smiles exchanged. He religiously watched M*A*S*H* never missing an episode. Sports captivated him, engaging both his competitive spirit and unwavering loyalty to his teams. However, the moments he treasured most were those spent surrounded by his family, whose love provided him with boundless happiness.
David is survived by his cherished wife of 43 years, Bonnie (Rosenbrock) McCallum, who stood beside him through thick and thin, embodying love and partnership. He was an adoring father to his daughters, Kristin (Tim) Voss and Kayla (Travis) Martin, both of whom carry forward his legacy of warmth and humor. The joy of his life was amplified by his three delightful grandchildren, Otto, Rosemary, and Isla, whose laughter brought him immeasurable happiness. In addition to his immediate family, David is remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Earl and Elaine McCallum.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home. A Cremation will follow. A Celebration of life will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to wishes of the family.
