ADRIAN- David Ross McNeilly, 63, passed away on March 1, 2025, in Dimondale, Michigan. Born on May 2, 1961, in Lansing, Michigan, David lived a life filled with curiosity, generosity, and a love for adventure. A graduate of Harry Hill Community High School in 1980, David dedicated much of his career to serving others. He worked as a lunch aide at Attwood Elementary within the Lansing School District and later pursued a career in janitorial services with Dean Transportation before retiring in 2023. His work reflected his caring nature and commitment to his community. David had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America, he developed a lifelong love for camping and continued to enjoy the great outdoors for many years. He was an avid garage sale enthusiast who could never resist stopping to browse for hidden treasures. A true music lover, David attended concerts whenever possible and amassed an extensive collection of CDs and record albums that reflected his eclectic taste. He also had a passion for football-cheering from his armchair but never missing an opportunity to tailgate at Michigan State games. Beyond his hobbies, David was known for his generous heart and concern for others. He was a true friend to everyone he knew. He always made sure those around him were doing well and often invited friends and family to join him for a meal. His adventurous spirit led him to seek out new experiences and places to eat. He had a special fondness for giraffes and shared a deep bond with his beloved cat, Vatoni.
David is survived by his siblings: Kyle (David) Southward of Blissfield, MI; Susan Vellanti of Adrian, MI; Daniel (Helene) McNeilly of Eagle, MI; and Paul McNeilly of Lansing, MI. He also leaves behind two nieces, seven nephews, and his aunt Karen MacIntosh of Jackson, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Enola (MacIntosh) McNeilly; his brother-in-law Patrick Vellanti; grandparents Ross and Dortha MacIntosh; grandparents Charles and Margaret McNeilly; and Uncle William McNeilly. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Churches Corners Cemetery in Pittsford, MI, where David will be laid to rest. David's warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
