David Ralph McQueen (1952 – 2025)
David R. McQueen, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, has now entered his forever home with his Lord and Savior. He passed into eternity on March 29, 2025.

He was involved in the marching band, and won numerous Science Fair awards. He attended Southeastern Christian College in Winchester, Ky., where he met his wife. He was awarded the National Science Foundation scholarship and received his master's degree in geology from the University of Michigan.
David is predeceased by his parents, and sister-in-law Vickie Lynn Puderer. and brother-in-law Clarence Prewitt. He was an only child. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Dianne McDonald McQueen, children Philip Edwin (Elizabeth), Miriam Jeannette Douglas, Andrew David (Cindy) and Deborah Ruth Stevens (Forest Drew), grandchildren Sarah T. McQueen, Mary E. (Meme) McQueen, C. Ian Douglas, Evelyn D. Douglas, Ethan D. McQueen, Samuel J. McQueen, Emily R. Stevens, Eleanor A. Stevens, Hannah S. David's career as a geologist has taken him all over the United States, and to the countries of Peru, Israel, Turkey and Zimbabwe. He began his career as a geologist for the United States Geological Survey in Reston, Va. He later became a geology professor at the University of Virginia at Petersburg. In 1983 he accepted a staff position with the Institute for Creation Research in San Diego, Ca. This ministry, founded by Dr. Henry Morris, has been influential in researching scientific facts that promote the idea of a young earth, specially created by God, and gathering evidences for a worldwide flood, as recorded in Genesis. He later became a ground water geologist for The Department of Environmental Quality for the state of Louisiana, from which he retired in 2015.
Visitation will be at Mangham Baptist Church at 9:45 on Wednesday April 2, 2025. Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00. Burial will be at Gwin Memorial Cemetery in Mangham. I had the privilege of working with David at LDEQ as a fellow geologist. He was truly one of a kind-brilliant, nerdy in the best way, and outrageously funny. A unique spirit with a good heart. His wonderful family is a reflection of the kind of man he was. He´s deeply missed. Fine Christian.

Oh, the great memories of David while my wife, Kay and I served with he and Shirley at Reston Bible Church in Reston, Va. We all sort of grew up in our faith during that time. Amazing that a geologist and accountant could get along so well. I would tell David about taxes and he would tell be about rocks!! The main thing we shared in common was that our faith was firmed set on the Rock - Jesus Christ! Friend - enjoy the salvation of our Lord, we will be together again! Blessings to Shirley and all his family. David was a great and godly man!

David was a classmate of mine and we both graduated SHHS in 1970. I remember David as a friend to all, a kind and gentle soul, and was so very smart. I´m lifting all of David´s family up in prayer both now and the days ahead. To God be the glory for a life well lived, and a faithful servant.
