David Lee McWhorter, age 62 of Tallapoosa, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, in a local hospital. Born on May 6, 1962, in San Diego, California, he was the son of the late David Filmore McWhorter and the late Sharon Carol Weaver.
A 1980 graduate of Haralson County High School, David was a printer at MCL Industries in Buchanan. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his flower garden and spent many Saturday nights singing karaoke. His passion, however, was spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Dozier.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kay White McWhorter; his son D.J. McWhorter and his wife Leslie; and his grandchildren: Caiden, Dani, and Mia, all of Tallapoosa. Also surviving are his sister, DeAnna (Brian) Grimes of Douglasville and his brother, Dan (Shannon) McWhorter of Carrollton.
In accordance with David's wishes, he was cremated.
The family will host a memorial service for David on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM from West View Baptist Church in Tallapoosa.
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the cremation needs of the McWhorter family.
