David E. Mellott, 74, of Clymer passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

He was the son of Rev. Amos E. and O. Grace (Kephart) Mellott, born July 11, 1951, in Indiana, PA.

David was a 1969 graduate of Penns Manor High School and a graduate of Electronics Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. He worked for Montgomery Ward, National Mine Service Co., Pennsylvania American Water, and earlier his own business, David E. Mellott Electric.

He and his father Amos built several homes including both of their family homes and his father's church-Greenwich Gospel Center. David took pride in doing all the stonework on his home's fireplace, wood working, and planting his garden every year. He loved being outside tinkering on projects in the garage and fixing things. David was called MacGyver by the younger generation. He enjoyed watching tv, especially Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and every night Hogan's Heroes reruns.

David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna J. Mellott, his sister, Darlene Appelgate and husband, Daniel of Penn Run, two sons, Michael and wife Becky of Penn Run, Kevin and wife Allix of Indiana, one daughter, Brenda Mellott and fiancé, Craig Decker of Clymer, grandson, Tyler, granddaughter, Marcy, and a new granddaughter to be born in March.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Marie.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St., Clymer. His funeral service will be Saturday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Fred Catchpole and Chaplain Greg Parks, officiating. Interment will be made in Manor Cemetery, Penn Run.

The family wants to thank Concordia VNA Hospice for his care, especially Kayla, Crystal, Tifani, Toni, and Chaplain Greg.
