David Arlan Meyer, 78, of Eureka, passed away at 1:31 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2023 at his residence.
He was born March 4, 1945 in Washington, IL to Ervin and Rocile (Sasse) Meyer. He married Jeanne Davidson on April 27, 1968 in Secor, IL. She died October 15, 2022.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and nephew Chad Meyer.
Surviving is his daughter Kathleen (Paula) Meyer of Madison, WI; foster son, Oliver Sinh Ngo of Bloomington; brother, Kenzie “Al” (Alliece) Meyer of Chicago; granddaughter Alexis Meyer of Madison, WI; sister-in-law Donna (Tom) Purfield of Eureka; two nieces Anne Purfield and Jacqueline Teegarden; two nephews Shawn (Carrie) Meyer and Ryan (Lorinda) Purfield; and his best friend and puppy Snicker.
David was a Vietnam Army veteran working as a helicopter mechanic at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
He worked as a machinist for Caterpillar for more than 30 years before retiring. He was also a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Eureka.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Cremation will be accorded.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
