David Dean Meyer

David Meyer Obituary

David Dean Meyer, Ph.D., 86, of Oakton, VA, passed away on January 19, 2026. Born on January 16, 1939 in Bloomington, Illinois, he was a devoted husband to Suzanne W. Meyer and a loving father to Gregory and Stephen.

David held a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He worked for IBM, Lockheed Martin and National Semi Conductor where his sharp engineering skills contributed greatly. David was a longtime member of Fairfax United Methodist Church where he enjoyed many roles of service and leadership.

David is survived by his sons, Gregory Meyer (Anne Tahir) and Stephen Meyer; his grandchildren, Gavin Meyer, Braydon Meyer, Chance Meyer, Mallory Meyer and Scarlett Meyer; his nephew Jeffery Meyer and family and daughter-in-law Emily Ferguson (Alex). He was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne, brother Bruce Meyer, sisters in law, Judith Burleigh Steere and Bonnie Meyer. He will be missed by many.

A private graveside service will take place in the summer. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Suzanne.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association.

We can find comfort together in knowing David has been reunited with Suzanne and they rest in peace together.
