David Michelli Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 19, 2025.
Our beloved David Warner Michelli has gone to be with the Lord and to join his loved ones in heaven Friday, August 15, 2025. He passed peacefully in Tawas, Michigan. David was born on January 1, 1940, in Bessemer, Michigan to Louis and Olive (Paynter) Michelli. He served his country as an Army Assistant Military Chaplain during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from his career as a business professional at Fisher Body/General Motors in Detroit, he became a nurse. Ultimately, he served as the lead emergency department technician in Tucson, Arizona. His compassionate nursing care extended well beyond the healthcare setting as he cared for his parents, sisters and friends at the end of their lives. David was a selfless, dedicated volunteer. He had great passion for nature and volunteered to support wildlife rehabilitation. He held his church family dear. He was an active member and volunteer for the Glennie United Methodist Church and more recently, the New Hope Church, supporting its bible study and other activities to help those with food insecurity.

David cherished his many nieces and nephews. He is survived by Michele Banas Pemble (Wayne), Robert Banas (Diane), Lanette Daws Bonar (David), Suzanne Daws White (William), Judy Michelli Platt (Ray), Janet Michelli Jones (Ronald), Jacqueline Michelli, and JoAnn Michelli O'Neil (David). His great nieces and nephews are Jill Banas McLaughlin (Rob), Josh Banas (Kayla), Adam Banas (Haley), Anya Banas Singer, Emily Lee Kinor (Frank), Donald Lee (Carrie), Laura Hamler Skeens (Justin), Dawn Pemble Grulke, Alexandra White, Nadia White, Sarah Brennan (James), Michael Platt (Melissa), Laura Schmidt (Kevin), Amanda Platt, Elizabeth Jones, Lindsay Millette (Stephen), David Berg (Candice), Nathan Berg (Mary), and Stephen Berg.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Olive (Paynter) Michelli; his siblings, William Michelli (Mary), John Michelli (Marcy), Shirley Banas (Adam), and Zoe Ann Daws (Donald); his nephews, Gregory Banas (Lori Welch) and James Michelli; and his niece, Joyce Michelli.

Funeral services will be held with military honors Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Glennie Cemetery [intersection of M65 (State Road) and Lake Street] in Glennie, Michigan.
