David Moorer, born on April 18, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Hoston and Eva Mae (Ward) Moorer, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. A proud veteran, David served six years of active duty in the United States Army, earning the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was recognized as an expert rifleman. Following his military career, he dedicated many years of service to the United States Postal Service until his well-earned retirement. He was a proud member of the bowling league "Staying Alive."
David was truly a "man's man" - known for his strength, wisdom, and steadfast character. He naturally became a father figure to many in his village, offering guidance, support, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
David is survived by his children: Jill Moorer; Dederah "Cheech" Pounds; and Desiree "Pupa" ("Billy Bob" to her dad) Moorer; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 7 adopted grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Eva Mae and Hoston; his wife, Midred (Mickey) Moorer; his sons, Duane and David Moorer Jr.; his daughter, D'juanna Moorer; his grandson, Duane Moorer Jr.; his brothers, JC and Jerry Moorer; and his sister, Hattie Moorer Hess.
