David Leon Myers Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 17, 1952, in Rowan County to the late Leon and Ethel Hutchens Myers.
He was a member of Deep Creek Friends Meeting. David was a loving husband, devoted father and the best PawPaw to his grandchildren. He loved John Deere tractors, bluegrass music and to garden. But most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren. They were his whole world. From picking beans, riding the golf cart and special ice cream trips, PawPaw could do it all. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed their company until his journey was over.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna McKnight Myers; 2 children, Marty (Michael) Hodges, Tracy (Aaron) McDonald, 8 grandchildren; Richard Hodges, Kayla Hodges, Emily Hodges, Henry Hodges, Gracein Hodges, Katie Mae McDonald, Maelynn McDonald, Hazel McDonald; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Elaine Wagoner, Jane (Jimmy) Matthews; sister-in-law, Nancy (Kenneth) Howard; a very special niece, Melissa (Michael) Dickerson, many other nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews and family friends.
The family will visit with friends Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Deep Creek Friends Meeting from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Randy Quate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Deep Creek Friends Meeting, 1140 Deep Creek Church Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice Care and to their extended family and friends for the outpouring of love, care and prayers shown to them during this time.
