Sterling Myers Jr. passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2025, while watching a movie with his loving wife Elsie, at his home in Lakeland, Florida, where he lived with Elsie and son Kirbin. Sterling was raised primarily by his loving grandmother, the late Mabel Myers. He grew up in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, where he attended Luzerne public schools and West Side Vocational-Technical High School and where he made lifelong friends. He was affectionally known as Red, due to his hair color, growing up and later known as Bufffalo. He travelled around the states before settling in Texas. He first settled in Austin, then moved to Dallas/Arlington area where he raised his two beautiful daughters, Ashley and Melissa, and his son Kirbin. Sterling met Elsie the love of his life, in 2002 and they were wed in the Philippines in June 2004.
Sterling was truly a larger-than-life character. At 6’1” tall, with a shock of red hair, a beard, and a ready smile, he livened up every room he ever walked into. He was a true friend and always had a ready smile and an encouraging word. His sense of humor was as legendary as it was wicked. He was blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit which showed itself in everything from the successful carpet cleaning business he owned and operated to the snail farm he ran, which provided snails to gourmet restaurants in Dallas, Texas area. He was always positive no matter his circumstances. He enjoyed playing the guitar and if you asked him how he was feeling he would say, “I feel magnificent, it’s a glorious day filled with love, opportunity, and potential.”
Sterling was preceded in death by his parents Sterling Myers and Candi (Dolores) Packett, his paternal grandmother who raised him, Mabel Myers, his paternal grandfather Irend Myers, his maternal grandparents, Theresa and Achille DeLuca, and his first wife, Michelle Schoemer. He is survived by his loving wife, Elsie; children: Melissa Myers, McKinney, Texas, Ashley Myers, Kennedale, Texas, and Kirbin Cabilogan : siblings Shirley Myers, Luzerne, PA; Louie Brasovan, Lakeland, FL; Kim Brasovan (Tim Sinnett), Lakeland, FL; Mark Myers (Sandy), Hamilton township, NJ; Stephen Myers, South Brunswick, NJ; his adoring grandchildren, Kennedi, Chasiddy, Denver, Micah, Memphis; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephew.
