David Fulton Nance of Charlotte, NC passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the age of 98.
David is survived by his children Susan (Doug) Murray of Bristol, VA, Wayne Nance of Charleston, SC, Becky (Derek) Francis of Charlotte; grandsons Brandon (Amanda) Francis of Charlotte and Chase (Laura) Francis of Baltimore, MD; great grandchildren Ryker, Evie, Zephie and James; and god grandson Tanner Hutton of Bristol, VA as well as many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Louise Thomas, Lamar Nance and Clinton Nance and his wife, Willie Horne Nance.
David was born on July 29, 1927 to Marvin and Letha Nance of Peachland, NC. He worked along side the family on their farm. David often remembered fondly his days working on that farm and driving a school bus for Anson County Schools. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy.
David worked most of his life in the trucking industry including many years with Central Motor Lines. He was active at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church especially the Epworth Class, United Methodist Men and driving the church activity bus.
He met his forever sweetheart, Willie, at a carnival in 1946 and they were married in 1951. They enjoyed travel, family and church together for 70 years. He lovingly cared for her after Willie lost her sight until her passing in 2021.
He enjoyed golf and gardening. David also had a sharp wit and a joke or two. He was always quick to help others and to share whatever he had.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Tee of Charleston; 321 Wingo Way; Suite 201; Mt. Pleasant, SC or any hospice program of your choice.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1:30 on Thursday, September 4 In the sanctuary of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Caitlyn Lei officiating. Susan Nance Murray will give David’s eulogy. There will be no visitation but feel free to reach out to family members.The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
