Gladys Marie Jones, 89, of Hamlet, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond.
She was born November 29, 1935, in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Donald Frank Jones and Alta Ruth Cobb Jones.
Gladys worked in healthcare as a registered nurse for more than 40 years. She served in several capacities throughout her career in various medical facilities.
Gladys knew and loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully for over 70 years. She was a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church in Rockingham. She thoroughly enjoyed playing the piano and singing Christian hymns for her family and friends. Gladys cherished time spent with her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Benjamin Kirby Jones, II.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons, B.K. Jones, III of Hamlet and Brett Jones (Bonnie) of Venice, Florida; grandchildren, Benjamin Jones IV (Faith), Julie Anna Adams (Austen), Justin Jones (Laura), and Jessica Ensminger (Phillip); great-grandchild, Lilah May Adams, and baby Baylor Dean Adams due in September 2025; brother, Donald Frank Jones, Jr. (Eleanor) of Wilson, NC; and sisters, Joyce Washicosky and Diane Clancy (Norm), both of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and Gail McClellan of Dedham, Maine.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 10:30am-12:00 noon at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at 12:00 noon, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, with the Reverend Joey Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Family Cemetery, Lilesville.
