Predeceased by his father, Richard Nelson, David is survived by his mother, Glenna Nelson; five siblings, Richard Nelson Jr., Ginny Nelson, Cindy Prenovitz and husband Bill, Beverly Hawkins and husband Haddie, and Jo Anne Harvey and husband Steve; nieces Sarah Prenovitz and husband Will Sheppard, Mari Hawkins, Danielle Downing and Nicole Downing; nephew Caleb Hawkins and wife Molly Friedland; grandniece and nephew Jenna and Sam Sheppard, cousins Judy St. Laurent and husband Bob, Rick Miller and wife Sheree, Gary Miller and wife Carol , Eric Schlott  and partner Tom Morgante, and Bill Schlott and wife Darlene.

As a young man, David enjoyed anything mechanical, pulling apart and rebuilding engines and electrical components, and working with wood.  He played trumpet in the Winnacunnet High School and Jazz Bands, and was a member of the Youth Group at the United Church of Christ in North Hampton.  David enjoyed swimming, surfing, skiing, sailing, fishing and waterskiing.

David moved to Franklin Falls Farm in Franklin, NH, following a car accident in early adulthood, and lived there for over 30 years.  David was blessed to have many wonderful and caring staff members during his stay, and fellow residents who became close friends.   David turned a life-changing, most difficult event in his life into a true grace.  He was a kind, fun, and generous spirit.

Animals, gardening, photography, music, and time spent with family and friends were important to David.  He loved meeting new people.  He was known for his “thumbs up” positive energy, his desire to help, and encouraging attitude.  He had a big heart and will be missed dearly.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the First Congregational Church of Wakefield (2718 Wakefield Rd., Sanbornville, NH) at 2:00 pm, followed by burial at Lovell Lake Cemetery in Sanbornville, NH.  Donations can be made in loving memory of David to:  Brain Injury Association of NH in Concord NH or Community Bridges in Concord, NH.

I am sorry to see this sad news. I was a grade and High School friend of Dave and we had many good times together.
