David R. Nickols, age 63 of Laingsburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, Michigan. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held.
Born on February 14, 1962, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Roger and Linda (Swarthout) Nickols. He was one of three children born; David's early years were filled with the joys and challenges of sibling life. He shared a special bond with his brother, Mike (Betty) Nickols, and sister, Lori Richard, creating memories that they will forever hold dear.
David's journey took a beautiful turn when he married the love of his life, Marcie Miller, on August 1, 2001 in Laingsburg. A resident of Laingsburg for the most of his life he was a man of many talents and interests, but he will be best remembered as the proud owner of Mid-Michigan Guns and Gear. His establishment was not just a business but a hub for a community of outdoor enthusiasts who shared David's passion for hunting and the respectful stewardship of nature. His knowledge of firearms was extensive, and he took great pleasure in adding to his impressive gun collection over the years. David's love for defensive pistol shooting was well-known, and he could often be found helping others at perfecting their skill and encouraging others to learn and practice firearm safety.
His hands were as skilled as his mind, and David was often called upon to repair and alter/improve others firearms to aid them in accuracy. Friends and family would marvel at his knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in
David's presence was a comfort to his family, who will deeply miss his guidance, humor, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a life well-lived. His wife, Marcie, will cherish the laughter they shared; his daughter, Nicole (Kenny) Goad, will remember her father's support; his grandson, Kolton, and his siblings, Mike and Lori, will hold onto the bond of family that David so valued.
Also mourning David's passing are his beloved dogs, Bella and Hazel, who were his loyal companions and brought him immeasurable happiness. They, along with his family, will feel the absence of David's spirit. He now joins his late parents, Roger and Linda, and his dogs, Maggie and Tootie, leaving behind a world that was undeniably brighter for his presence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Laingsburg Sports Boosters in David's name.
