With profound respect and heavy hearts, we honor the life and service of Colonel David Michael Nicola USAF (Ret'd), who passed away on April 2, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. Born on October 5, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, Col. Nicola was a dedicated patriot, a devoted family man, and a true gentleman of character and integrity.

A career officer in the United States Air Force, Col. Nicola served his country with distinction from 1964 to 1989. He earned many commendations and awards throughout his career, but nothing gave him more pride than his Bronze Star that he earned while serving in Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, Col. Nicola transitioned seamlessly into the private sector, bringing his expertise to the aeronautics industry.

He and his beloved wife, Connie, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years, retired in Oklahoma to be closer to loved ones. David's greatest joy in life was his family. He was also known as "Dandy" to his cherished grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; their two sons, David Nicola and his wife Jenny, Chris Nicola and his wife Angelica, and their daughter Carrie Little and her husband Cody. They also have seven beloved grandchildren: Addison, Brooklyn, Daniel, Liliana, Avery, Kate, and Harrison. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Nancy Nicola Pugsley and her husband Charley of Omaha, Nebraska, along with a host of extended family members and friends who will forever treasure his wisdom, humor, and kindness. David had many hobbies including golf and traveling with Connie. Above all, he adored his dogs and treasured their companionship.

Col. David Michael Nicola's legacy is one of unwavering dedication, boundless love, and a steadfast commitment to his country and family. His humor, warmth, and wisdom will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the honor of knowing him.
