David R. O'Connell, 58, of Beverly died on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Beverly Hospital. He was the loving husband to Lynnette (Strople) O'Connell with whom he shared 21 years of marriage.
David was a 1982 graduate of Northshore Regional Vocational High School in Beverly and was last employed as a welder for First Fabricators in Ipswich, MA until his health forced him into an early retirement.
David was a huge sports enthusiast and a master of trivia. His sense of humor and wit were like no other. He loved unconditionally and welcomed everyone into his life making a difference in everyone he knew.
His most cherished memories involved his beloved Ryal Side Knights and their annual 4th of July Party. This was his favorite time of year where he reconnected with so many friends from all around. He lived to see the smiles on their faces, wanting only for them to have a good time.
David was a huge Jim Morrison fan having a deep appreciation for the poet in him over the musician. David, likewise, expressed himself through his writings and poetry. This writing of David's seems most fitting for the moment:
"The life we live isn't always the way we expect it to be. Somehow, we must find a way to move on. Not letting anything get in our path, always moving forward. Trying to understand who we are isn't always as easy as it looks. This is why we laugh, love and most importantly live!"
David lived his life under his terms with no regrets. He lived for his family and will be forever missed.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his three children, James, John, and Colleen O'Connell; brother Daniel O'Connell and his wife Julie of East Hampstead, NH; sister Diana Murray and her husband Kevin of Beverly, MA; niece Jessica Murray and her sons Colin and Owen Desmond; nephew Patrick Murray, his wife Allyson and sons Joseph and Thomas; nephew Nolan O'Connell and his wife Jessica in addition to many other family and friends. He is predeceased by his brother Timothy O'Connell and parents John and Ida O'Connell.
Funeral services for David will be private. We intend to have a celebration of life on July 2, 2022 when we can properly send David off with one last 4th of July party on the Terrace. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David's name to Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970. Arrangements by Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Cant forget how proud and excited he was when his triplets came home! Although he became physically limited in what he could do he remained very much in love with Lynette ; and was very proud of his kids . Last time we talked he said how awesome it was to watch them turning into cool young adults having fun on south terrace. The next generation ! Rest in Peace David.
