David Offner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasik Funeral Home - Shelby Township on Apr. 10, 2025.
David Dale Offner, a cherished resident of Armada, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in Troy, Michigan, at the age of 67. Born in Detroit, Michigan, David was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His life was a testament to dedicated craftsmanship and love for his family and passions.
David was the devoted husband of Sandra and the proud father of three sons, Benjamin (Julia Jenaway), Anthony, and Matthew, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. His siblings, Pamela (Vincent) Cianciolo, Jerome (Sue) Offner, and Mark (Kimberly) Offner, along with his many nieces and nephews, feel blessed to have had him in their lives.
David discovered his passion for the automotive world during his high school shop classes and naturally wove this interest into his professional life. His career began as a painter in the collision repair section of several car dealerships, while also teaching adult education autobody repair classes. Eventually, David's talents led him to the General Motors Technical Center (GM Design), where he spent over 30 years as a metal model maker, transforming artist renderings into intricate car and truck models. His exceptional work was showcased at auto shows and even appeared in popular films, leaving a lasting legacy on the automotive design world.
Beyond his professional life, David found immense joy in his hobbies, which included camping, hunting, fishing, and indulging in his love for Supercross and Motocross racing, especially when shared with his sons. He was a master of detailed projects, such as crafting custom guitars and restoring dirtbikes. David had a special knack for creativity, best exemplified by his competitive entries in the 'parent' class for the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby.
Family and friends are invited to honor David's life at visitation on Tuesday, April 15th, from 4-8 pm at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., located at 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (Shelby Township). On the morning of the service, David's family will receive friends and other relatives at 10 am, before the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, held at St. Mary Mystical Rose Church, located at 24040 Armada Ridge Rd., in Armada, Michigan.
David's memory will live on through the lives he touched, his contributions to the automotive field, and the love he shared with those around him.
