David worked for Mountain Valley Bank NA and its predecessor First National Bank of Parsons for a total of forty-eight years. He joined the bank in May of 1965 following his military service with the US Army in Germany and Vietnam. In 1983, he was named Executive Vice-President of the bank and also received the Tucker County Chamber of Commerce Employee of the Year award. At the time of his death, David was a member of the Mountain Valley Bank Board of Directors and served as a consultant to the management of the bank.

David attended the First United Methodist Church in Parsons.
He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, attending sports functions and dance recitals with equal enthusiasm. The summer beach trips with all his children and grandchildren together were the highlight of his year. He loved the ocean and the beach, and he was always the first one in the ocean on each trip.
David traveled extensively through Europe during his military service which sparked a lifelong passion for travel. His most recent trip was a birthday cruise with his wife, Donna, to several Caribbean islands where they danced, snorkeled, swam in crystalline blue waters, and enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner off the coast of the island of St. Maarten.
