David Christian Orr, warrior and witness of God, passed away August 22, 2025 at his home in West Bend Wisconsin. In his last days he was surrounded by the many people he loved and who loved him.
David was born November 4, 1990 in Plainfield New Jersey. He is the son of his loving mother, Donna Jean Ellenbecker, and Father Brian Wilson Orr. David moved to Pound, Wisconsin with his mother and father when he was two years old. He lived down the street from his cherished Grandma Pitcher during his early youth. She was a staple in his life making him feel special, even having a bed in her room that was just for him. They spent their days together going on outings, baking, walking in the woods, swimming and playing. She was a major influence in the man he became.
David moved with his mom and dad, Larry Ellenbecker, to Slinger, WI where he went to school at Living Word and Mountaintop Christian Academy through his junior year. He transferred to Kewaskum High School for his Senior year where he graduated in 2009.
David was recruited to play basketball in college. He always said, "Sports is not my life, I'm not the best player, I'm just closest to the rim." After a short time in college David decided to come home and work fulltime in the family's business, where he would develop a relationship with the woman he would marry.
David married Justine Renee Field on September 1, 2012 and they welcomed a daughter Jane Riley Orr on September 29,2014. We know it is with true regret that he leaves behind his wife Justine, his friend, his confidant, his soul mate and his sweet daughter Jane, who fulfilled his greatest longing of becoming a father. He loved them with all of his heart.
David was diagnosed with Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, in December of 2012, shortly after marrying. The years ahead were difficult ones, full of constant battles. They relied on, and remained steadfast, with God's help throughout. Their unwavering faith influenced many including doctors, surgeons, friends, and strangers. David would want people to know that in the 12.5 years of this mighty battle many miracles were witnessed, all for the glory of God. He often spoke of his beloved Auntie Cheryl who called David, "her miracle". She put her faith in Jesus because of what she witnessed in his life. We know she was there to greet him in heaven.
Despite David's struggle with Sarcoma, David has always said how blessed his life was. David and Justine would often talk about what a great life God had given them. It was filled with family, joy, and a special knowledge that God was working in and through them.
It is with deep appreciation that he honors both his beautiful wife and his mother for their tireless efforts, support, loyalty, and unwavering love throughout. He was truly blessed by having true women of God in his life.
David's real passion in life was God, his family, and serving others. He was a member of the Pentecostal House of Prayer, a place of worship and a place of family. He was a man who lived out his faith in his daily walk with Jesus. He served his community and God through his work and his church's local youth center. He spent many years helping people with disabilities through his family business, Our Place Day Services in Jackson, WI. It was important to him to create an environment of inclusion and acceptance by creating community and opportunities for people with disabilities to become the men and women they were meant to be.
David very much enjoyed playing Pokémon and Christian rap music he sponsored rap concerts to not only share his passion for music but also his love of God. He acquired many friendships through these activities over the years; sharing of himself and his faith. He was a true witness of God. He also enjoyed passing time watching Doctor Who, even visiting the Doctor Who Experience in Wales, UK with his bride Justine on their honeymoon. Marvel posters decorate the walls of his game room and his extensive shoe collection stands as testament to his basketball years.
David and his family would like to thank his oncology teams, nurses and aids at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, and The Center for Advanced Care, specifically Dr. John Charlson, Dr. Hui-Zi Chen, Dr. Jennifer Connelly, and Dr. John Neilson.
