David Ozuna, beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 57. He was born on February 16, 1967, and grew up in La Hielera (Edinburg, Texas). As a child, David loved the outdoors. You could often find him in the streets of his neighborhood, La Hielera, playing football and baseball with the local kids. Despite being a quiet boy, he had a great sense of humor and was known as a big jokester. He cherished attending CCD at Capilla San Jose where he completed his sacraments.
David met his high school sweetheart, Yvette Ramirez, at Edinburg High School. Their love story began in their teenage years and blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion. All those 10-mile bike rides from his home to hers, just to see her smile, became worth it. After graduation in 1985, David moved to Dallas, Texas, to win Yvette's hand and support their younger siblings. Eventually, they married in 1987. Together they built a life centered around love, respect, and dedication to each other-a true blessing and gift from God to have found his soulmate the way they did. David flourished and worked diligently to provide a home for his family while always making time for those he cherished. Over time, both of their younger siblings followed them to Dallas, and parenthood started rather quickly. He was not only a loving husband but also a devoted father to their children, David Jr. and Brenda. He instilled in them the values of hard work, integrity, generosity, humility, and compassion. As a master technician, he took great pleasure in working with his hands and had a passion for building, rebuilding, and repairing anything and everything. This passion was so strong that he always had a DIY project going on at home. In his free time, David loved to go fishing, coach baseball, watch sports, and indulge in his love for cooking. His biggest highlight was when he had the honor of playing baseball with his son, David Jr., in La Liga Mexicana (Mariners). However, he was best known for his generosity and willingness to help others in times of need. He consistently put the needs of others before his own.
David is survived by his loving wife, Yvette Ozuna; children David Ozuna Jr. and Brenda (Keanna "Cupcake" as David called her) Ozuna; grandchildren Azriel Davian Ozuna and Bashtyn Naveen Ozuna; furry grandson Bear Ozuna; siblings Natividad (Nina) Salinas, Rolando Salinas, and Sandra Ozuna; extended family Don Amador "Lito" & Doña Maria (Licha) "Lita" and the entire Cisneros family. Additionally, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends will miss him dearly. Preceding him in death are his grandmother Eliodora Ozuna; mother Aurora Salinas; and sister Lori (Julio) Niño.
