David Luigi Panetta passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on April 5, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Luigi and Anna (née Brajkov) Panetta, David lived a life defined by love, hard work, and devotion to family.
On October 6, 1955, he married the love of his life, Mary McGinn. This year, they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
David was a successful real estate developer and entrepreneur who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was deeply proud of his Italian heritage, maintaining strong ties to his family's cultural roots. Together with his father, he took several trips to Italy and enjoyed celebrating his ancestry through his involvement with the Italian Cultural Center.
David had a love for staying active, running marathons, playing racquetball, and learning to speak multiple languages. Throughout their marriage, he and Mary found great joy in traveling together, building a lifetime of unforgettable memories.
Above all else, David dedicated his life to his family. His unwavering love and support left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His passing leaves a profound void in their hearts, and he will be forever missed.
David is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Christopher (Deborah), Michael (Mary), and Lawrence (Tamara); twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Lucille, Carol (Robert), and Robert (Pam); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn; his son, David Jr.; and his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank, Macomb.
