David Leroy Parker was wrapped in the arms of the Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Dave was born on August 2, 1947, to Wayne and Sarah Pauline Parker in Akron, OH. He graduated from Mapleton High School and later obtained a degree from The Ohio State University. Dave proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, afterwards returning to Ohio where he worked as a telephone cable splicer for thirty years. He loved to travel, visiting places like Mexico, Aruba, and the Dominican Republic. If Dave was around a radio the station would be playing rock and roll. He instilled his love for rock and roll, especially Bruce Springsteen, in his daughter and they spent many evenings listening to those songs. In Daves' free time he liked to fish and hunt and end the day with a bottle of good Scotch.
Waiting with open arms at the gates of heaven was his father, Wayne, his mother, Sarah Pauline and his sister, Cheryl Burkhart. Remaining to carry on Dave's memory is his daughter, Melonie Sue Hafley (CJ (deceased)), his son Jonathan David Parker and daughter-in-law, Cora Parker. He was blessed with eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Dave will be missed by all the friends that he made throughout his life.
A Memorial Service to honor Dave's life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, OH 44851. Online condolences and fond memories may be shared with the family by visiting www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
