Jeffrey W. Bahr, 67 of Ashland passed away on Friday morning, October 31, 2025 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born December 3, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Clarence "Yogi" and Nancy L. (nee Bell) Bahr. Jeff graduated from Mapleton High School, Class of 1976 where he was a three sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball.
He attended the Ashland County JVS and learned machine trades. Jeff furthered his education at NCTC in welding, hydraulics, Allen Bradley SLC 500 programing and later became a certified electrician. Jeff proudly served in the United States Army during the Persian Gulf War and Desert Storm as a Truck Master, Logistics and was in the United States Army Reserve from 1977-1992.
Jeff was a hardworking man and throughout his life worked many different places acquiring extensive expertise. He began his career in maintenance in Ashland at HedStrom and then spent 8 years each with PAR Industries, Broschco, and Gaylor Electric in maintenance. He proudly supervised 150 workers and helped build the OSU James Cancer Center in Columbus from a "hole in the ground" for 3.5 years and was "most proud of this job because it keeps helping others." He finally retired from McClintock Electric in 2024 after many total years of dedicated work.
Jeff was a true Christian man who accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing slow-pitch softball, gardening, and traveling and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. He especially enjoyed his recent trip to Alaska. Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Chris (Heather) Bahr and David Bahr, both of Ashland; three grandchildren, Ava, Evan, and Chase Bahr; his siblings, Vern (Tracy) Bahr of Ashland, Steve (Cindy) Bahr of Savannah, Tom Bahr, Kim Smith, and Alan Bahr all of Ashland, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jeff is preceded in death by his brother, Greg Bahr; and his sister, Denise Bahr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend John Bouquet and Reverend William Ludgwig presiding. Full military honors will be conducted by the Ashland Veteran's Honor Guard. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
