Robin Zajac, 53, of Shelby, OH died on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Cleveland, OH on January 28, 1973, the daughter of Jerry Conway and Paula (Hunt) Varney. Robin grew up in the Mapleton community and graduated from Mapleton High School. She found her way to Shelby and that is where she called home.
Even when faced with an illness that would ultimately take her from her family, she faced the diagnosis with courage, determination and fought hard until the end. Robin was an amazing daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, always honest, loving, caring and had a pure heart. She was an amazing listener and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She brought great joy to everyone who knew her and she loved to spend time with her family. Every spring she planted flowers to enjoy all summer long. She liked to do crafts, listening to music and loved to cook and bake; she was always trying a new recipe. Robin held a special place in her heart for animals; more specifically she loved her cats.
Robin is survived by her daughters, Bethanie (Matthew) Young, Emily Markel and Abbie Markel; grandchildren, Aiden, Rylee, Matthew Ray and Kade Young; brother, Mike Zajac; and her fiancé, Chris Caskey. Robin was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Conway, mother and step-father, Paula and Cecile Varney; and her grandson, Karma Alan Markel.
Private graveside services will be held in accordance with Robin’s wishes. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family by visiting, www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
