David Perry Obituary

Born in Tullahoma, Tennessee, to the late Allen and Opie Perry, David devoted his career to education and athletics, receiving his B.S., M.S., and E.Ds. degrees from MTSU and playing football for the Blue Raiders. He was a middle and high school teacher and a passionate coach of football and basketball. After retiring from teaching and coaching, he partnered with his son, Matthew Perry, to run a successful lawn and landscaping business.
David's love for sports was infectious. He was an avid supporter of local high school football and basketball, as well as a devoted fan of his beloved Boston Celtics and Alabama Crimson Tide. Beyond sports, he found joy in hiking, reading, being outdoors, and connecting with people, always striking up a warm conversation and never meeting a stranger.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Susan McMillan and Melanie Roberts. He is survived by his brother, Allen E. Perry (Mary Catherine), and sister, Linda Chapman. He is also survived by his son, Matthew Perry (Shauna), and their children, Sarah, Symantha, and Jordan; and his daughter, Andrea Perry (Kelly), and their children, Blake, Beckham, and Riley.
A private family only graveside service and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, officiated by Mr. Byron Lawrence. David's family will gather to honor a life well-lived, defined by his infectious smile, love for simplicity, and effortless camaraderie.

I Coached Track with David for several Years when I first got to Tullahoma in 1997. I share some great memories of David. He was a worker and was really dedicated to helping develop those Girls. We had a great Time. Tullahoma has lost another good one.
So sorry for your loss- David touched a lot of lives is fondly remembered by a whole lot of People.

David and I were both teacher/coaches at East Middle back in the day. We had a good relationship and I had been told his and Matt´s lawn service business was quite successful. I am praying for the entire family.

So very sorry to hear about David. Every time David and I ran across each other we would always tell stories of coaching blunders we experienced and have a good laugh. Will miss seeing him riding a mower. Sincerely Jimmy Martin
