David Michael Philbrook, an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas. He was born on May 30, 1948, in Stockton, California, where he developed his lifelong love for nature and the outdoors.
David’s love for the outdoors was evident in all aspects of his life; he was known for his enthusiasm for fishing and his dedication to gardening. His joy for these activities brought him much happiness, and he shared that love with his family and friends.
He is survived by his brother Richard Philbrook, his sister Cathy Zahradnik, and sister-in-law Ellen Conroy. David's legacy continues through his nieces Erin, Annie, Jennifer, Emily Zahradnik, and Hannah Conroy-Philbrook, nephew Dana Conroy-Philbrook. They will always remember him as a guiding force in their lives, inspiring them to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Wilma (Brant) Philbrook, and his brother Scot Philbrook. His family takes comfort in remembering the warmth he brought into their lives and the indelible mark he left on their hearts.
As we reflect on David Michael Philbrook's life, we celebrate his unwavering spirit and love for nature. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and will remain forever in their memories.
David is interred at Kansas Veteran's Cemetery Fort Riley, Kansas on June 5th, 2025 at 1:00pm.
