David G. Phillips, son of Jack and Irene Goodman Phillips, was born February 14, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life September 15, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years.
David made a profession of faith in Christ and at the time of his passing had been attending Ozark Bible Church. He appreciated the love, prayers and support from his church family. He especially enjoyed listening to the special music performed by various church members over the years.
After high school, David entered the United States Navy and proudly served our country from 1961 until his retirement on June 4,1979. He remained in the Navy reserves until April 7, 1989. David remained dedicated to our country and devoted to our future successes.
David also worked for the Durham Company in Lebanon for nearly thirty-five years, where he also retired.
On April 27, 1964, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Barbara Eslinger and to this union was born two daughters, Susan and Tammy, both surviving. Prior to David's passing, he and Barbara had shared sixty years of love and cherished memories.
When David had a moment of free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing and woodworking. He even did wood working for Bible School. Another favorite past time of his was square dancing with Barbara. He had obtained his twenty-five year pin. Later, when he wasn't able to do as much, he enjoyed the simplicity of feeding the birds, while drinking coffee on his back porch. However, nothing compared to the time spent with his family. He took special pride in watching his grandchildren in their various sports. He was their biggest supporter and his family was his greatest accomplishment.
David is survived by his wife Barbara; two daughters, Susan Schneider and her husband Scott and Tammy Henirichs and her husband Shawn, all of Lebanon, MO; five grandchildren, Zachary Schneider and his fiancée Kassaundra Davidson of Columbia, MO,, Shelby Schneider of Springfield, MO, Micheal Heinrichs and his wife Shannon of Lebanon, MO, Kameron Heinrichs and his wife Alecia of Lebanon, MO and Ryan Heinrichs, also of Lebanon, MO; four great-grandchildren, Braydon, Brody and Whitley Heinrichs and Gracie Lawson; other relatives and friends.
Those preceding him in death include his parents; two sisters, Pearl Mingori and Leola Webb and one brother, Leroy Phillips.
David was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Those who knew him will forever cherish the memories they shared together. He will be deeply missed until we meet again.
Memorials have been suggested to The Parkinson's Foundation.
