David Billy Quintana, 72, of Lubbock, TX, passed away, with his family by his side, on June 26, 2024. He was born on May 5, 1952, in Durango, CO, to Amarante Quintana and Margie (Silva) Quintana.
David married Margaret Ryan on January 19, 1973, in Pagosa Springs, CO.
In 1976 he began working at SPS, which later became Excel Energy, and remained working there until his retirement in May of 2015. Here is where he met many of his lifetime friends who touched his life dearly; He considered them all family - Carl Peck, Darryl Mutschler, Rick Collum, Joe Mata, Barney Jaramillo, Ralph Lopez, Rudy Ortega, Tom Mason, Ralph Cuellar, Kent Zackoski and many others. He felt truly blessed.
After retiring, his favorite saying was “EVERYDAY IS SATURDAY!” He cherished his time restoring his ‘56 F-100 pickup, escaping the Texas heat RV-ing with friends in Eagle Nest, NM, and breaking down and rebuilding nearly everything mechanical in sight. He will be forever remembered by his friends and family for his subtle (and absolutely hilarious) sense of humor, his ingenuity in approaching problems and his patience, willingness and capacity to teach others.
David is survived by his wife, Margaret Quintana of Lubbock, TX; sons, Tony Quintana (Glenda) of Red Oak, TX, David Quintana (Theresa) of Lubbock, TX and Joseph Quintana (Shawna) of Abernathy, TX; daughter, Stephanie Quintana of Lubbock, TX; grandchild, Alyssa Mendoza (Johnny Mendoza) of Lubbock, TX; great-grandchild, Sebastian Amarante Quintana; siblings, Joe (Sharon) Quintana. Linda (David) Latham, Olivia Lawhead, and Barbara (Mike) Kaiser.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Amarante and Margie Quintana; brother-in-law, Dennis Lawhead, and great-granddaughter, Selene Mendoza.
The Holy Rosary will be recited by Yvette Rodriguez and Luz Cuellar beginning at 1:30p.m. on July 6, 2024, at the Combest Memorial Chapel.
