David "Dump" Rardin, 69, of Mattoon, Illinois passed away at 9:30 a.m. on April 6, 2025, at his residence.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.
Dump was born on January 8th, 1956, at Memorial Hospital in Mattoon, Illinois to Cleaves Edward and Edna Maxine (Jenkins) Rardin. Dump is survived his mother Mickey Rardin; sister Marcia (Larry) Smith; daughter Davonna (Quentin) Dittamore; grandchildren Bryton (Tiffany) Dittamore and Jasmyn Dittamore (Devin Warren); great granddaughter Vayda Lynn Warren; the love of his life Linda Robinson; her children Dana Kutz (Gina Harris), Justin (Karla) Kutz, Angie (Sean) Hill, Mikey (Brigitte) Robinson; her grandchildren Austin and Averi Kutz, Karra and Lyla Kutz, August Robinson, Serinty and Silas Harris; nephew Joshua Cleaves Rardin; niece Christina Dawn Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his father; brothers Steven Rardin and Paul Aaron Rardin; and sister Cherrie Lee Rardin.
Right after school he started working at Fugua Fertilizer for 18 years. He then started his own welding company, where he was contracted by many. One known client was Mervis Recycling. In the 70's and 80's you could find him drag racing at the Coles County Drag Strip. Throughout his life he built himself and others their dream cars to help get them to the finish line. He was very much into the Rat-Rod scene.
In 2019 one of his wildest adventures started with the love of his life, Linda Robinson. This is where their Road Dawgin' began; traveling from state to state with their teardrop camper, leaving their mark at every stop on the way. Best known for bartending from the back of his camper, helping others, story telling, and making friends.
His story will never end, because someone somewhere will always have a story with Dump Rardin in it.
