David passed away August 17, 2023, in Leawood, Kansas. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Clarence (Pete) and Dolores Register on October 15, 1943.
David was the owner of Register's Furniture Refinishing and Repair in Marlborough for about 45 years. He learned the trade from his father, and later took over the business. David served in the Coast Guard reserve for 8 years. He was a champion poker player and at one point he took the number one slot in Missouri. His poker buddies nicknamed him "Cash" and it stuck to this day. He loved dogs and cared for several over the years. David never met a stranger, and had a heart of gold. He would often let the homeless sleep in his shop and never turned anyone away who needed help. David made the best of every situation and rarely complained about anything. He also loved a good joke and pulled some good ones over the years.
David is preceded in death by his mother and father, and sister, Patty. He is survived by his sister, Sheryl (Register) Swyden, nieces Christine Stevens, Julie McConnell (Darrin), great nieces and nephews, long time cherished friends (and partners in crime), Eddie and Ronnie, the residents and staff at Homestead of Leawood and Lenexa who befriended and took care of him. A very special thanks to Group 1 for 50 years of friendship and support.
There will be a private family memorial later in September.
