David L. "Dusty" Rhoads, Sr., age 83, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Ohio Hospice of Butler and Warren County. He was born January 14, 1941, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Lawrence and Stella (Holland) Rhoads. Dusty was an avid golfer, he spent a lot of time at Harmon Golf Club, and had actually played rounds of golf with Neil Armstrong and Frank Stolle. Dusty was also a very accomplished bowler in the southern Ohio region, and had bowled multiple perfect games. In Dusty's younger days, he enjoyed any and all sports, he excelled in basketball and baseball. He was invited to try-outs with the Cincinnati Reds during the time of the "Big-Red" Machine. Dusty is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Penny Rhoads, Jr., of Lebanon; grandson Trevor (Mara) Rhoads of Harveysburg; granddaughter Tristian (Jake) Conley of Wilmington; great grandchildren, Amelia, Walker, and Rowan; several nieces and nephews; and many friends he has made around town, on the golf course, and on the lanes. In addition to his parents, Dusty is preceded in death by his wife June (Nichols) Rhoads in 2003; and sisters Nellie and Millie. Graveside funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Lebanon Cemetery. The family will have a private time of visitation. Dusty will travel by Harmon Golf Club one last time on the way to Lebanon Cemetery Friday. The family asks the memorial donations be directed to Ohio Hospice of Butler and Warren County, 5940 Long Meadow Drive, Middletown, Ohio, 45005.
