David Carmack Richardson, 76, passed away on October 2, 2025, at Ascension Saint Thomas Hickman County Hospital in Centerville, Tennessee.
David was born on July 11, 1949, to the late Jessie Evans Richardson and Lonnie Carmack Richardson, and spent his entire life in Perry County. He was the youngest of three children, with an older brother, Malton Richardson, and sister, Margaret Ann Dill (both deceased). David was raised on Short Creek near Lego and later the White Oak community. He graduated from Perry County High School in 1967. After graduating from Austin Peay University in 1971, David became an educator to 4th -6th graders at Pineview Elementary School, Cedar Creek Elementary Principal, and later taught math at PCHS. David started Richardson Real Estate, where he sold real estate for over fifty years. The family business is now owned and operated by his son, Jarrod Richardson. In 1979, David Richardson and Tommy Graham purchased "The Howard Farm", their first tract of land, on Spring Creek, which lead to establishing Graham & Richardson Properties, a local land development and sales company as well as a powerful friendship, which has been very successful to this day.
David was a member of the Linden Church of Christ. His hobbies included travelling with his wife, classic cars, and enjoying plenty of time on the Tennessee River.
Throughout his life, Mr. Richardson touched many lives and served the community of Perry County. He helped set up the local Chamber of Commerce, which continues to grow the local economy and community. During the mid-2000's, he became a member of the Board of Directors at the Bank of Perry County, was instrumental in creating the annual Blooming Arts Festival, and worked with the Workforce Development Board to increase local job growth. David was a member of the Perry County Shrine Club.
Mr. Richardson loved his community, friends, and family. He approached everything in life with a smile on his face, a joke to lighten the mood, and a positive attitude. He always aimed to welcome and help others and make new friends.
David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diana Richardson; daughter P.J. (Mark) Bates and son Jarrod (Jennifer) Richardson. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Alanson Jacob Richardson. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren who called him Big Daddy: Kennedi Bates, Ashlyne (Bailey) Freeman, Hope (Micah) Simons, Russell Richardson, Sophie Richardson, and Mack Richardson; and great-grandchildren, Camille and Iris Simons. He is also survived by his nephews Greg (Nina) Monroe, and Dee (Tracy) Richardson, and his niece Melanie (Terry) Gladden) along with many other beloved family members and many, many friends.
