David Howard Roach
April 11, 1963 – April 26, 2025
David Howard Roach, 62, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, passed away on April 26,
2025, at Atrium Health Pineville, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on April 11, 1963, David was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and a man
known for his unwavering faith, musical talent, and loving heart. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Joseph Howard Roach and Margorie Hawkins Roach.
David's love for music began at the age of five when he received his first piano for
Christmas-a gift that changed the course of his life. From that moment on, music
became his passion and ministry. He played in churches of all sizes, rest homes,
weddings, and funerals across the United States and in other countries. As a founding
member of the gospel group In His Glory, David used his talent not for praise, but as a
way to serve the Lord and uplift others. He generously shared his gift by teaching and
encouraging many aspiring musicians along the way.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Janet Sprinkle Roach of Rutherfordton; his
son, Wesley Roach and wife Taylor of Union Mills; his daughter, Ashley Roach and
fiancé Dave Neuner of Rutherfordton; and his cherished grandson, Maxwell Wesley
Roach of Union Mills. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Ann and Joe McGuire
of Tyler, Texas as well as numerous cousins in Texas and New Mexico.
At David's request, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks
that donations be made to the Chase High School Marching Band (make checks to
Chase High School Band Boosters), any local music organizations, or The Gideons
International-causes that reflect David's lifelong devotion to music, faith, and
community.
David's legacy lives on in every life he touched through music and kindness. He will be
deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
