David Oscar Roberson

David O. Roberson, the eldest son of William O. Roberson and the late Helen J. Roberson, was born August 18th, 1968, in Louisville, Kentucky. David grew up in a family of devout Christians. His grandmother, Pastor Mamie L. Davis, founded Lively Stone Apostolic Church where he and his family were members for many years. After the passing of his grandmother, the church/leadership was passed down to the late Pastor Mary Ellen Beverly and under her leadership, David was baptized. Attending church was not only a requirement, but the foundation of David's life as a youth.
David's love for sports was cultivated during his early childhood. You could always find him with neighborhood friends playing pitch back tackle football, or basketball in the alley behind Dumesnil St., or at Russell Lee Par, or the neighborhood elementary school. He loved his old neighborhood and the lifetime friendships that were made there.
As a teen David attended Pleasure Ridge High School, and there he began setting goals for his life. He held many jobs as a youth, but it was when he got the idea to sell newspapers on the weekends that he realized how much he loved working for himself.
Years later, David decided to change the course of his life and took part in an apprenticeship program at Spencer Concrete Company, owned and operated by Mr. Floyd Spencer. This opportunity offered a different way of life for him, and ultimately placed him on the path to his personal success. David was dedicated to learning all that he could about this field of work and had a great mentor to guide him. And through his hard work and determination he was soon able to make his desire to be a business owner a reality. David worked as an independent contractor for 21 years, proving that hard work, determination, and the drive to "go hard" does pay off.
David was a caring and generous person. His MEGA watt smile and charming personality made everyone feel welcome always! He loved travel and entertaining family and friends and was always the life of the party! As an avid sportsman, he loved the skills of Michael Jordan, and the resilience of the Dallas Cowboys; so much that his sons were named respectfully from his love for both. David's most life changing moments were the birth of both of his sons, Jordan and Dallis Roberson. Nothing but pure joy and love filled his world when they were born, and he became a Dad like no other. His love for his boys can never be denied!
To know David was to love him. He loved hard, no matter the relationship, and he most definitely will be missed.
David went to eternal rest on January 15, 2023. He was 54 years old. His spirit will live on through those who loved and cherished him which include his two sons, Jordan M. Roberson and Dallis A. Roberson; his father, William O. Roberson; his sister, Barbara J. Roberson; his brother, Victor M. Roberson; his nephews, Reginald (Lil Reg) A. Roberson and Ryan W. Boyette; his niece, Destyne N. Curtis; his aunt, Willie Bell Ratliff, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his uncle, Sylvester P. Davis; and a host of beloved family and friends.
A funeral service will be held in David's memory at Noon on Friday, January 27th, 2023, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with Dr. Demetrius Latham, Jr. officiating. Friends may call on the family on Friday from 10AM until service time.
