David Robinson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brezniak Funeral Directors - Newton on Sep. 29, 2025.
David Sean Robinson-of Boston, on September 25, 2025.

David was born in New York and was a charming young man who dreamed of being a screenwriter after graduating from Middlebury College. In Los Angeles, however, he began to volunteer interfacing with youth gangs and emergency rooms and veered toward a career in helping people.

He embarked upon becoming a physician and entered Medical School. He graduated in 2014 from the Keck School of Medicine in Southern California. During that time, he and his wife Jennifer had two twin boys, Holden and Asher. They then moved back to Boston to live near both of their families.

Although David and Jen divorced, they both remained devoted parents. David completed his residency at the Harvard South Shore Psychiatric Center in 2018. He became Medical Director at Carney Hospital and practiced at McLean and the Dana Behavioral Health Center. He specialized in addiction treatment.

David was a caring and thoughtful son to his mother Gyda and often included her in all of the events of Asher and Holden including birthdays, holidays, soccer games, movies and dinners. "Grandma Gyda" was often the fourth to their celebrations.

Weekends or overnights with the boys were the center of David's life. The three of them went sailing on the Charles, traveled to California and Iceland for a wedding, and countless day trips for varied adventures. Since Holden loved the video game Super Smash Bros., David would take him whenever he wanted to play the game. Asher loved racing and was taken to NASCAR events to see the races. He got the boys CALY…the sweetest dog ever and Jen, Holden and Asher continue to love and enjoy him as part of their little family.

David will be missed desperately by all who loved him and by all the patients he helped immeasurably.

A graveside service will be held at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton (those attending will meet in front of the Cemetery office building) on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Following the interment. Family and friends are invited to Seasons 52 Restaurant, 220 Boylston St., Chestnut Hill

I just found out today that Dr. Robinson has passed away! I am above and beyond saddened by this news, as he was the very best therapist I ever experienced and followed him from Quincy over to Hanover there were so many great things that he had done for me. I went with him because he was the very best therapist I have ever had at the age of 58 years old... He did so much for me and I am so desperately saddened by this news. This is definitely a "gone too soon" situation.

Thank you for sitting across from someone who was hurting, and never leaving. Thank you for navigating your own thoughts and feelings, yet always leaving space for mine - for that, I´ll always be grateful.

To one of the best therapists I´ve ever had, thank you for giving me something to lean on while I healed. You helped me find enough direction to move forward, and I´m stronger than I ever would have been without you.

Dr Robinson was my tms doctor this year. I had never heard of the treatment until I got to talk to him and do an intake. He was so calm and genuine, knowledgable and caring. All of that in one meeting and that was the case when I saw him a couple times in treatment as well. I felt I was in the hands of a true expert in this field. I still feel that way and am honored to have been treated by him. He saved my life and I mean literally I would not have survived my health issues without his treatment. I will continue to pass on the knowledge he gave me.

His family and friends must be feeling indescribable pain and I think of them during this time and even as time goes on. Please know your dad saved the lives of people who needed help the most.

I'm deeply saddened to hear about David's passing, but I'm also incredibly grateful for the profound impact he had on my life. During my darkest moments, he offered a listening ear and a supportive presence that helped me heal and grow. His approach was refreshing and empowering, as he prioritized understanding my needs and concerns over simply prescribing medication. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to break free from the grip of severe panic attacks and re-engage with the world after six months of feeling stuck. I'll always cherish the gift of his support and expertise. He was beyond excited to open his new practice. Break my heart to hear of his passing. Sending his family so much love xoxo

Dr. Robinson was my psychiatrist for 3 year and supported me through the hardest time of my life. He wasn't just a psychiatrist looking to prescribe medication - he was an empath, a listener, and a thoughtful and intentional doctor and I will never forget him.

David was my psychiatrist for several years post-covid, until he opened his own practice. His warmth and light touch came through, even though our sessions were conducted on Zoom. May all his family and friends be comforted.

To be honest with everyone I was deeply shocked to learn of Dr. Robinsons passing. when I saw him professionally and I had a future appointment the practice Dr. Robinson was working contacted me say Dr. Robinson had left the practice and I would need to see another provider not knowing most likely he had gone to a peaceful practice. My heart and my prayers go out to his ex-spouse and sons whom he had a big smile on his face when I asked him how they were doing. Dr. Robinson was a big help to me professionally and he will be missed by his patients as well as his sons. as I said before my thoughts and prayers go out his sons and family. Mozel Tov David A. Losing a classmate is a difficult thing to come to terms with. David was the most enterprising among us; I believe he organized a small crew selling candy as a side hustle in fifth grade. We were certainly a mischievous bunch. No matter the situation, David faced every challenge head-on, always with a smile. My sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and especially to his sons.

Dave and I were inseparable during our early years of college. We were a funny pair to our peers with at least a foot difference in height between us. Like he did to so many, Dave drew me in with his magnetic charm, positive energy, and charismatic personality. It´s nice to hear of Dave´s so many contributions after college with his kids, mother, and patients. Rest in peace David.

David and I went to Park together. I remember him racing pens, playing basketball with his crew and enthusiastically debating Madame Adams in French class.

During my first week of classes as a Feb at Middlebury, I bumped into David. I knew few people in the freshman class and seeing a familiar face made a big difference.

David, you will be missed.

My husband and I were fortunate to host David, his sons, and our dear friend Gyda for many holiday dinners over the years. We will miss his beautiful smile, engaging conversation, and warm presence as I´m certain all the knew him will.
