David Rogers Obituary

David Arnold Rogers, 71, retired City of Georgetown employee and former employee of Overhead Door, passed away Friday June 17, 2011 at the VA Hospital. A native of Versailles, he was the son of the late John C. and Ortha Marie Christian Rogers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, former member of the Georgetown Optimist Club and an Army veteran. He was also very active in Garden Tractor Pulling throughout the state in which he won many awards. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Eddie) Wynn and Patricia Cooper, both of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Larissa and Lauren Amburgey, Eric and Elizabeth Cooper and Olivia Kopser; siblings, Ralph (Libby) Rogers, Lexington, Linda (Bob) Lewis, Shelbyville, Danny (Trina) Rogers, Corinth and Jean (Tim) Bailey, Georgetown and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Hawkins. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crestlawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Eric Cooper, Jonathan Major, Scott, Tony and Jeff Lewis and J.D. Alton. Honorary bearers will be Ron Carroll, Frank Chisley and Everett Varney. Visitation will be 5�8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
