DAVID ROSCHER Obituary

DAVID ROSCHER David James Roscher, 70, of Marshall, died Sunday morning, January 21, 2024, in the comfort of his home. He was a patriot, photographer, police officer, proud papa, and Post 558 member. David was born February 3, 1953, in Saline County, to Lorene Lemler and Carl Roscher. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1977, primarily as an M.P. He later served several years as a police officer in Kansas City, Austin, TX, and spent much of his career as an officer with the Marshall Police Department. He worked for M.P.D. from 1985 to 2013, when he retired from his position as the assistant chief of police. David also spent some time as a photographer for The Marshall Democrat-News and continued his passion for photography until he died. He enjoyed supporting and honoring veterans as an active member of the Malta Bend Memorial Post 558. His greatest joy was spending time with his six grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Marshall; his brothers, Dennis Roscher and his wife Sharon, and Curt Roscher, all of Kansas City, KS; his stepchildren, Matt Reed and Tom Reed, both of Texas; and Sarah Gray, of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Phillip Roscher, he was also preceded in death by his stepson, Andy Reed. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 558 and US Army. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Legion Post 558, Malta Bend in care of Heckart Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

David, I am happy to have called you a friend. I'm glad I met you in person, and I know Charlie was as well. He talked about you often. I will miss your photography and your sense of humor, but will always be glad for the memories!
