David Roscher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Dale City on Dec. 12, 2025.
Dr. David Roscher (Dave) was born on May 28, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, NY during the Great Depression. He was the youngest of four children born to Helen and Charles Roscher. He graduated from Bogata High School in New Jersey and went on to receive a BS in chemistry from Rutgers University. He attended graduate school at Purdue University where he met the love of his life, Nina Metheny Roscher. Dave often and proudly announced to all, that Nina was the most brilliant person he had ever met. Nina received her doctorate from Purdue in 1964 and was instrumental in Dave finishing his dissertation and completing his degree two years later.
Dave and Nina moved to Fairfax County Virginia in 1974. Dr. David Roscher opted to instruct younger students and subsequently served as the Advanced Placement Chemistry teacher at TC Williams High School in Alexandria, where he also coached the girls' track team. At TC Williams, Dave's students referred to him simply as "Doc". Other area high school AP Chemistry students occasionally formed study groups and called "Doc" for exam help.
Dave will be remembered for his gentle kindness and abundant generosity. He gave freely of his time and treasure to many worthy causes and individuals throughout his life. He retired from teaching in 2009 and passed away on November 26, 2025, at 88 years old. Dave was predeceased by his beloved wife and three oldest siblings. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and colleagues.
