David Allen Rounds, 54 of Stevensville, Michigan, formerly of Midland, passed away at his home on Monday, March 17, 2025. He was born August 18, 1970 in Bay City, son of Jean (Hunt) Maida and the late Clyde "Tony" Rounds. Dave spent his early childhood in the Bay City area until moving to Midland in the 5th grade. He graduated from H.H. Dow High School in 1988 and went on to attended Northwood University for a year. After deciding that college just wasn't his style, Dave went to work for Soaring Eagle Casino as a card dealer. After several years, he grew a little restless and decided to move north and work for Turtle Creek Casino in Traverse City. His carefree, "hippie" lifestyle once again blew him to a new location in Stevensville where he began working for Four Winds Casino. It was here he finally settled with his two sons, Devin and Blake.
Dave loved to just live his life and have fun, while still providing for his family. He enjoyed dressing up and going to the Renaissance Fair with his sons where he eventually adopted the persona of "Pirate Dave". He was also a tried-and-true Marvel fan, reading comic books and participating in multiple Comic-Con events through the years. Role playing games were another favorite pastime he had, often spending hours playing World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons with Devin and Blake. Dave was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles even though he lived his entire life in Michigan. He was an extreme movie buff who had probably watched every superhero and Hary Potter movie ever made.
Everyone who knew Dave understood that his boys were his entire world. Nothing gave him more pride and joy than watching his sons grow into good and respectable young men.
Dave is survived by his two beloved sons, Devin and Blake Rounds; mother, Jean Maida; brothers, Mike (Linda) Rounds, Tyler Rounds, and Clinton Partridge; sisters, Jessica Green and Lori (Mike) Harwood; aunt, Nina Bauer; friend and mother of his children, Cynde Louie; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his devoted grandparents, Dora and Clyde Rounds and Wanda and Robert Hunt.
Visitation for Dave will take place Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 2-6 p.m. at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider his children, Devin and Blake Rounds. All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Rounds family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
