Michael Briggs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Midland Chapel on Feb. 3, 2026.
Michael Kenneth "Mick" Briggs, 62 of Midland, formerly of Burton, passed away at his home Sunday, February 1, 2026. He was born September 3, 1963, in Bay City, son of the late Michael Gerald and Alice Virginia (Dishaw) Briggs. Mick attended school in Bay City until he went to work full time with his father as a carpenter, a job he had been doing since he was a young boy. He was certainly a master of his trade and shared his talent with several companies over the years. Mick was a master trim carpenter, with his favorite type of wood being oak, he would custom design and build kitchens, entertainment centers and nearly anything. For many years, Mick enjoyed being active and staying physically fit through weight training and lifting. Mick enjoyed camping, RV travel, as well as riding and working on dirt bikes and ATVS with his family. He always had a curious nature and enjoyed learning about physics and electrical engineering. This led to his passion for building and restoring elaborate speaker systems. Mick had a love for animals and had several cats, dogs, and birds throughout his life. More than anything, he was a proud father and grandfather. Mick Briggs and Lisa Drummond Briggs remained good friends and shared special occasions with their children and grandchildren. His greatest joy came from sharing his hobbies, special occasions and conversations with his sons Kameron, Klaeton, and Michael ll and family. Mick treasured being in the lives of his three sons, especially his son Klaeton whom he helped care for.

Mick is survived by his children, Michael Kenneth (Holly) Briggs II, Klaeton Ryan Briggs, and Kameron Evan Briggs; grandchildren, MiKayla, Elanore, Margaret "Maggie", and Michael Kenneth Briggs III; former spouse and good friends, Lisa Drummond Briggs and Chad Keyes; sisters, Tina (Tony) Militello, Shelly (Matt) DeBats, and Crystal (Howard) Jacobs; and brother-in-law, Bob Courier. In addition to his parents, Mick was preceded in death by his son, Erik Leigh Briggs; granddaughter, Emma Louise Alice Briggs; and sister, Lori Courier.

Funeral services for Mick will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, with burial to follow in Midland Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Mick's children.
