David Alan Rowan, 54, passed away suddenly in Turlock, California on October 9, 2023. David was born March 28, 1969 in San Francisco to parents Matthew and Alice Rowan. At the age of four, David moved to Turlock with his parents and five older siblings.
While attending Turlock High School, David made many life-long friends through his participation on the swim and water polo teams. After graduating from Turlock High, David attended Chico State, where he competed on the men's swim team.
Following Chico State, David started his career in the Food and Dairy Industry, selling Process Control Instrumentation. He partnered with his brother Matt to operate Service Supply System, Inc. for many decades. David felt his relationship with his customers and employees a privilege and considered them family.
In 1997, David married Shannon Lampkin of Turlock, and together they had three children, Paige, Sydney, and Michael. David cherished his children and was highly involved in their lives, coaching over twenty little league and soccer teams.
David was a gentle soul. Throughout his life, he had a deep connection with nature and love of animals. Distressed and injured animals had a way of finding David, and he would rescue them without hesitation. David instilled his love of animals and the outdoors in his children. He worked tirelessly on his family's ranch and took great pride in the land and animals he cared for.
David enjoyed numerous adventures with his family and friends including hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and fishing. He had a deep love for the California Coast, and for years, he had a second home in Aptos. Aptos held a special place in David's heart throughout his life.
David had a natural ability to make everyone feel like they were special and important. He loved his family and friends dearly.
David is survived by his wife Shannon Rowan; children Paige, Sydney and Michael Rowan; siblings Denise Rowan, Matthew (Teri) Rowan, Regina (Brian) Bowyer, and Thomas Rowan. He also leaves behind nieces Mary Rowan, Elizabeth Rowan, Grace Simko, and Rowan Bowyer, and nephew Brian Bowyer. David was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Alice Rowan; sister Theresa Rowan and infant brother Michael Rowan.
A funeral mass will be held at Resurrection Catholic Community in Aptos on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow.
A Celebration of David's Life will be at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 28th at 3718 W Harding Road, Turlock.
Memorial contributions can be shared in David's memory to the Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center at stanislauswildlife.org.

I met Dave at Chico when I was dating a friend of his on the swim team. I can remember a lot of late nights at their house eating the mac-n-cheese his mom would send from home and listening to Led Zeppelin. He was a sweet guy. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

20 years ago, I took a supervisor role at a cheese plant, was new to the dairy industry and had a lot of questions about flow meters, pressure sensors everything David sold us. I texted and called him on many occasions over the years and he was always helpful, For many years he was known as the weekly doughnut man and canned ham Christmas man till covid stopped that. He was honest about everything. I played lotto and he was a scratcher guy but neither one of us had much luck. Rest in peace brother and lord willing see you in 20 years plus or minus. Scott
