David D. Royce

David Duane Royce, aged 71, a lifelong resident of Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 18, 1954, to Delbert Duane and Mary Abigail Woodford Royce.

David was a graduate of Morgantown High School and attended West Virginia University, and a lifelong Mountaineer fan. In his spare time, David was a motorcyclist and played softball for many years. He enjoyed serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at Morgantown Church of God; where he served at the audio technician during his time there.

David's heart was ever devoted to his beloved wife, Michelle E. Vandergrift Royce, whose companionship and support were a constant source of joy in his life. He was also a cherished uncle, leaving behind his nieces Julia Magrone, Kimberly Sandora, and Amanda Powell, in addition to a nephew, Matthew Powell; his brother-in-law: Donnie Powell. His presence as a kind and loyal Uncle will continue to be felt by his many great nieces and great nephews; and his beloved cat: Sam.

Although David was preceded in death by his parents, and his dear sisters, Debra LeAnn Powell and Sharlene Beatrice Driggers, his memory and spirit will remain for all who knew him.

David's career as a TV Technician at WNPB and as an audio-visual technician at Fairmont State University; was marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and genuine passion for his work. His natural knack for electronics and his propensity to stay abreast of technological advances made him a respected figure both within the station and amongst his peers.

Family and friends are invited to gather in McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, WV on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 4-7 pm. Visitation will continue in McCulla Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 24th from 10 am until the funeral service begins at 11 am.
