David Eugene Ryken, 66, of Purvis passed away on September 18, 2025 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 6 P.M. at Coaltown Baptist Church. Mr. Ryken was a member of Coaltown Baptist Church. He graduated from Graceville High School in Graceville, FL. in 1979, upon graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he served for 10 years and earned the rank of Staff Sargent. He loved his family and enjoyed working. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Shirley Payne Ryken; his wife, Patricia Louise Ryken; a sister, Rebecca "Becky" Ryken Barnes; and his step-son, Christopher LaMartina. He is survived by his son, Joshua Ryken; his brother, Johnny Ryken (Lisa); three granddaughters, Brianna Dorman, Amanda Dorman, and Elizabeth Dorman; special friend, Patricia "Pat" Gatlin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a step-daughter, Danielle LaMartina Hall. A graveside service will be, 2:00 P.M. (CDT), Thursday, September 25, 2025, at New Hope Assembly of God Church Cemetery, 1314 Bunker Road, Graceville, Florida, with Dr. Naethan Hendrix officiating and James and Lipford Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Coaltown Baptist Church at 137 Purvis Oloh Rd, Purvis, MS 39475, or First Baptist Church of Graceville at 987 8th Ave, Graceville, FL 32440, or to any veteran organization of your choice.
