David D. Schaad, 75, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Chandlerville, Illinois, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was born on February 14, 1949 in Springfield, Illinois to Andrew John Schaad and Francis Morris. He married Deborah Hahn on January 2, 1971 at St. John's Church in Bath, Illinois, and they later divorced in October of 1996.
David was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Alberta Schaad; sister, Mary Suter; brother, John Schaad; and daughter, Brenda Schaad.
Surviving are his sons, Robert Schaad of Texas and Andrew (Thlitha Drew) Schaad of Florida; step-daughter, Christina Walbert of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashley) Schaad, George, Matthew, and Alex Schaad, and Zavoni Drew; three great-grandchildren, Avery and Jakob Schaad and Hazel Schaad; and longtime friend, Michelle Walbert.
David served in the United States Air Force from 1969 until 1973. He then returned home to farm from 1973 until 1996, and later went on to work at White Oaks Mall in Springfield, Illinois and Hobbs/Honeywell, from which he retired in the early 2000's. David was also a member of the Country Gamblers, where he taught country and western line dancing for 15 years.
Cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned at this time.
