David Vance Schardein, 75 year old Eufaula resident, passed away February 16, 2023 in Muskogee, OK. David was born July 3, 1947 in Blackwell, OK to James Keith and Jacquelyn (Jones) Schardein. David grew up and attended school in Pryor. After graduation from high school, he attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK where he earned a Bachelor's Degree. He met and married Betty Karen Diacon on February 27, 1976.
David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After completing his term of service, David worked as a Civil Service Employee at the Defense Ammunition Center in McAlester, OK until his retirement in 2007 when he and Karen moved to Eufaula. David was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and had a saving faith in Jesus Christ.
David is survived by his son Chad Schardein (Candice) of McAlester, OK; daughter, Rebecca Baker of Eufaula, OK; 7 grandchildren; Austin Schardein of McAlester, Ashley Schardein of McAlester, James Schardein of McAlester, Presley Disher of Tulsa, Riley Baker of McAlester, Madison Baker of McAlester and Tyler Heath of McAlester; six great grandchildren, Teagan, Chloe, Aurora, Anastasia, Emberlyn and Asher; sister Pam Johnson (Carlos) of Oklahoma City; and brother, Jim Keith Schardein II of Salina.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 20, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andrew Haire officiating. Funeral Honors will be performed by the United States Marine Corps.
Arrangements are in the care of Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care of Pryor.
