David C Schulte, 90, of Cedar Rapids (Cottage Grove Place), died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House December 24, 2025. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Stateroom on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with inurnment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, David was born June 29, 1935 in Mattoon, Illinois, to Ben and Mary Schulte. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Lowe, on October 16, 1954 at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.

He is survived by his wife Linda; sons Brian (Patti), Brad (Jeanne), Scott (Liz), Michael (Mary Pat) and Patrick (Brenna), daughters Mary Gehris (Tim), Molly Smith (Brian) and Katie Keefe (Dan); 24 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and unbelievable caregivers Linda, Brian, Katie and Susie. Also, like a family member since birth, Gary Shea (Sharon).

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary, three sisters Marilou Morrissey, Barbara Wolfe and Jackie Lynxwiler, two brothers Robert (died in Korea) and John, two grandsons Jourdan Reeder and Nicholas Keefe, and daughter-in-law Jill Schulte.

He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. David was active in sports, organized and led a men's AAU basketball team, sponsored by Sanitary Farm Dairies, to two State and Midwest Championships and advanced to the National AAU tournament in Denver.

David was a division manager for Mid-American Dairymen for 15 years, followed by a 37 year broker/sales manager career in real estate starting with Gibson Partners. He served as first vice president and treasurer of the Cedar Rapids Board of Realtors and chairman of the finance, arbitration and ethics committees. He was a Certified Residential Specialist, took great pride in his work and was well recognized for it.

He was devoted to his wife Linda, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2024. David was extremely proud of Linda and their entire family. And they were extremely proud of him.

David's family would like to particularly thank the staff at Cottage Grove Place, Dr. Heidi Dahlem and David's other Mercy doctors and nurses, and the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House.
